'Fast 9' Starring John Cena Postponed Until 2021
Yep, now we really can't see you, John.
Universal Picture's Fast 9, featuring John Cena, has pushed its release date back from May 22 to April NEXT YEAR due to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus, the movie's social media accounts have confirmed.
With sporting events, concerts, festivals and other large gatherings all being postponed or cancelled outright due to the current pandemic, many studios have taken to postponing their upcoming releases.
James Bond sequel No Time To Die and A Quiet Place: Part II, among others, have all been postponed over the last few days and Fast 9 now joins that every-growing list.
The statement posted on the film's social media accounts read as follows:
"To our family of Fast fans everywhere, We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga That's why it's especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It's become clear that it won't be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.
"We are moving the global release date to April 2021, with North America opening on April 2. While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration. Moving will allow our global family to experience our new chapter together. We'll see you next spring."
In the film, former WWE Champion Cena will be playing the role of Jacob Toretto, Dom's brother, and is expected to be the central villain of the flick.
Will we see more film releases pushed back over the next few days and weeks? It's highly likely, but precautions like this must be taken in order to ensure the safety of the general public.
