Final Matches Of WWE’s Latest Releases: Ranked
4. Billie Kay - WrestleMania 37
Women’s Tag Team Turmoil
Billie Kay is among the more baffling releases, having found her niche as a comedy performer who featured heavily on SmackDown. Her ad-hoc Royal Rumble alliance with Jillian Hall was among the highlights of the match. We deserve more Billie & Jillie. Kay could’ve easily found longevity in her current guise like a female R-Truth, though rumours suggest Kevin Dunn not “getting” Billie secured her release. At least she ended her run at WrestleMania.
Kay and Carmella made their entrance with Kay mimicking her partners sexualised entrance to comedic effect. The beautiful Kay "failing to be sexy" worked despite it requiring a suspension of disbelief that is a stretch even for pro-wrestling.
The match had its minor botches, and was a little off in places, most noticeably Lana missing a kick on Kay. Although, it was difficult to pinpoint the cause of the faults. With assistance from Carmella’s feet, Kay eliminated Naomi with an illegal rollup.
Their second encounter saw them face off against the Riott Squad, in a match that was more of the same. Kay and Carmella attempted to repeat their cheating tactics but were caught. The Riott Squad took advantage of the confusion, double teaming and pinning Kay.
