6. Knockouts Dragout Brawl

Next up, the GFW Unified Knockouts Champ, Sienna, made quick work of her opponent Amber Nova, in a short, scrappy encounter before putting her away with her AK47 finisher. The real story came in the post-match as Sienna used the time to call out female authority figure, Karen Jarrett, in a continuation of their on-going feud of recent months.

Sienna’s attempts to intimidate the non-wrestler were thwarted by the appearance of Knockout’s underdog, Allie, who would soon be joined by maniacal bride, Laurel Van Ness and the increasingly popular and bizarre Rosemary.

Sienna and Laurel gained the upper hand on the babyface duo until Knockouts pioneer Gail Kim made the save by cleaning house. Mrs Jarrett made the most of her remaining air time by placing Sienna in a “Last Woman Standing” title match with Rosemary next week.

With women’s wrestling at the forefront of wrestling in 2017, GFW has some real talent on their hands with Sienna, Rosemary and Gail Kim. However, the mismatch of gimmicks surrounding this trio seems to distract from the talent on hand.

If less is more, than this segment was definitely proof of the opposite. Add to that Gail Kim’s announcement last week that she will be retiring at the end of 2017 and GFW has some serious work to do if they want to keep up with WWE’s much vaunted “Women’s Revolution” and restore the Knockouts Division to the glory days of the past.
