Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar Official For WWE WrestleMania 33
One last clash between two unstoppable foes...
Last week, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman challenged Goldberg to one final match at WrestleMania 33. This Monday on Raw, Goldberg officially accepted Lesnar's challenge, putting the long-rumored bout on the card for the show of shows.
Goldberg and Brock Lesnar famously clashed at WrestleMania XX in a bout that was meant to be Goldberg's last in the company. Shortly before the event, though, Lesnar requested and was granted his release, meaning that both men would be departing after the show. Fans caught wind of this and booed the match - and Goldberg's victory - out of the building.
What a difference 12 years makes. Spurred on by the success of WWE 2K17 - which featured Goldberg and Lesnar in prominent positions - WWE re-signed the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, bringing him back to face Lesnar at the Survivor Series. Originally, Lesnar was meant to get revenge, but when Goldberg decided to stick around through WrestleMania, plans changed. Goldberg squashed Lesnar at Survivor Series in less than a minute and a half, then eliminated him from the Royal Rumble without breaking a sweat.
That set the stage for one final bout between the men.
