Goldberg's 10 Best Moments Ever

8. Steiner vs. Goldberg

As WCW was going down faster than a jobber in a Goldberg squash match, two of the reasons to keep watching were Goldberg himself and Scott Steiner. This was after The Streak ended, so Goldberg wasn’t as hot as he was at his peak, but he was still a babyface that was connecting with the majority of the audience.

In 2000, the two were involved in a really personal feud. On an episode of Nitro, Steiner kidnapped Goldberg’s girlfriend, and then locked her in the Steiner Recliner right in front of him. In response, Goldberg decided not to go to the police, and instead beat Steiner about the face with a pipe backstage. Instead of calling it even, they decided to fight at Fall Brawl.

The two massive, insanely muscular dudes had one hell of a stiff and sloppy fight that night. It was a pretty compelling match. For those who like the irresistible force vs. immovable object type-showdowns, this was it. They threw everything they had at each other, Goldberg hitting all his power moves on Steiner, and Steiner tossing around Goldberg with all of his suplexes. Fun was had by all!

Of course, since this match went down during Vince Russo’s tenure in WCW, Midajah got involved, as did Russo himself. At one point they took turns beating Goldberg with a pipe and a bat. Still, it ended up as an entertaining spectacle and one of Goldberg’s best matches.

And to add to the entertainment, before their match Gene Okerlund finished up an interview with Steiner by saying “Geez, what a mouth on that b*stard!” Chill out Gene!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
