Goldberg's 10 Best Moments Ever

3. Capturing The US Title

At Spring Stampede 1998, Goldberg defeated Saturn in a match to become the number one contender for the US Title, bringing his undefeated streak to 74-0. That same night, Raven captured the US Title from Diamond Dallas Page. The next night they were set to collide on Nitro.

Raven, not wanting to give up his newly won belt, had the entire Flock interfere on his behalf. One by one they were destroyed. Raven made Goldberg look like a cyborg in the match, as he bumped like crazy for him and showed some genuine remorse for what he'd gotten himself into.

In a really cool spot, Raven tried to escape through the crowd, realizing he couldn’t win the match, but he was stuck as some “fans” tossed him right back in so he could finish taking his beating. He was put down in short order. The pop Goldberg received for winning a secondary title that night was bigger than any reaction we've heard for a wrestler winning a world title in years.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
