Gunther ESCORTED OUT After Saturday Night's Main Event (WWE News)

Triple H wasn't the only one facing fan backlash after WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.

While WWE Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque received huge backlash at and after Saturday Night's Main Event this past weekend, another person on the receiving end of fans' wrath was Gunther.

Of course, this latest episode of SNME marked the final match of John Cena's career, where the legendary, record-setting 17-time World Champion lost to the Ring General. It wasn't the loss that irked fans in Washington's Capital One Arena and beyond, though, but more that the decision was made for Cena to tap out in the last match of his career, in almost comedic fashion, and going so much against what the John Cena character - as in, Mr. Never Give Up - has represented for the past 20+ years.

That finish initially received a stunned silence from those present in the venue, before that silence turned to boos and chants of "Bulls**t". Likewise, Triple received massive boos when he appeared as part of the celebration of Cena's career, and that reaction continued on the SNME post-show, where the Game was greeted by chants of "You F**ked Up!", "AEW!", and even "We Want Vince!".

As for Gunther, footage has now emerged of him being escorted from the Capital One Arena, with fans surrounding the one-time Walter and giving him plenty of "F**k You, Gunther!" chants. For his part, the big Austrian didn't appear to acknowledge any of this, calmly making his way to his bus.

Having John Cena tap out in his final match was certainly a choice, and wrestling fandom continues to be split on this matter. And while Cena has now ridden off into the sunset, that win at Saturday Night's Main Event - coupled with retiring Bill Goldberg earlier in the year - suggests 2026 should be quite the big year for Gunther.
