How Sheamus & Drew McIntyre ALMOST Made WWE Go NSFW (WWE News)

Remember the Banger Bros.?

Remember in 2023 when the WWE alliance between Sheamus and Drew McIntyre was briefly known as the Bangers Bros.? Well, that's a smidge more information on initial plans for that partnership.

This came at a time when Sheamus already had his Brawling Brutes trio with Pete 'Butch' Dunne and Ridge Holland, and the on-off on-screen friendship between the Celtic Warrior and the Scottish Warrior once again came to the fore. But as quickly as the Banger Bros. name was a thing, the name was just as quickly completely dropped.

Now, the Banger Bros. moniker - while playing on the banger, after banger, after banger mantra - was a cheeky nod to the adult website Bang Bus, which is something some in WWE management were entirely unaware of. Once that connection was made, that's why the Bangers Bros. name stopped being used.

Sheamus himself recently brought up this topic during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, and Fightful Select has further information on what was planned for the Banger Bros. duo back at that point in time. As it happens, there were pitches made by McIntyre for light-hearted skits that would poke fun at situations seen in the Bang Bus porn series.

This report highlights one particular Drew pitch that would have seen the Banger Bros. pick up Alpha Academy at the side of the road. The Academy was having car trouble, and McIntyre and Sheamus would give them a lift in their van, apparently mirroring the action of the Bang Bus. From there, Alpha Academy would eventually be kicked out of the van, though the Banger Bros. would allow Maxxine Dupri to stick around.

Of course, none of this made its way to WWE programming, with the Drew McIntyre and Sheamus tandem simply shown to be a couple of burly brusiers who loved to drink Guinness and crack skulls in bar fights. Not to mention, they'd also have no problem with laying a beating on each other if the need arose.

As part of this run, Drew and Sheamus would find themselves in a triple threat against Intercontinental Champion Gunther at WrestleMania 39, though it was the Ring General - who regained the World Heavyweight Championship on last night's Raw - who was left standing tall at the end of that excellent, extremely snug bout.
