4. Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior WrestleMania VI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9lt__ACbFY The Ultimate Challenge As with most of Hogan's top tier matches, WrestleMania 6's Ultimate Challenge was a classic battle of the titans. It was Hogan himself, facing off against the guy on the next rung down from him. Ultimate Warrior was beginning to look like an action figure based on himself, rising in popularity as Intercontinental Champion to such a level, that the only logical main event for WrestleMania was to have him clash with the top guy. The event was preceded by the dissipation of an alliance into a rivalry between the two men, which all came to a head when the two dominant forces collided. Most of the match itself consisted of lots of rest holds and tonnes of sweat-inducing rope sprints. It wasn't until a lengthy bear hug from Warrior and referee Earl Hebner got planted on his back, that the near falls began, and the two participants fed off the energy. Warrior became immune to Hogans punches, shaking the ropes like he was trying to head bang but didn't quite know how to, and hitting Hogan with his overbearing military press/big splash combo. The Hulkster then retaliated as Hulkamania ran wild once again. But at the last second, Warrior countered, hit another gargantuan splash and scored the upset pinfall. This match was awesome, simply because it showed that the WWF wasn't just settling on the power of Hulkamania to fight it's battles. Warrior was certainly an underdog going into the bout, but became Hogan's equal after it. The image of the two sharing a hug of respect after Hogan handed his title over proves this, and would be permanently etched in memories of fans for years to come.
