4. Hulk Hogan vs. Sid Justice €“ WrestleMania VIII

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jQXu6EAJGw The Warrior's Return This showdown was set up to follow the same Hogan blueprint that consistently repeated itself for years on end, However, due to the loose inclusion of a storyline, there was an overhanging air of speculation that it could be Hogan's last. The main title was on the line earlier in the card, between Ric Flair and Randy Savage, resulting in no foreseeable objective for the main event players to fight for. It's been speculated that the collision was originally supposed to consist of Ric Flair and Hogan, but for some reason this was scrapped as Vince saw a star in the size and power of Justice. The match kicked off with Justice attacking Hogan during his entrance, but Hogan fought back and heaved Justice out of the ring. All the while, 'Real American' was still playing weakly through the much too trebly arena PA, allowing Hogan to continue posturing his 24 inch pythons. Eventually the match began, and it ended up being less exciting than the scrap that preceded it. This bout was riddled with pure egotism on Hogan's part, as €“ on multiple occasions €“ he hurled Justice out of the ring and posed like a wannabe bodybuilder. Any actual clashes between the two were yawn inducing. It followed the same recycled, slow model that carried Hulkamania on a wave through the 80s, except this time, every bear hug and slam felt undeniably stale. Justice choke-slammed the Hulkster and pulled off an unconvincing mid-match promo, spitting "do unto the man, as he would do unto you, but do it first." Ridiculous. When Justice eventually managed to execute a sloppy powerbomb, Hogan kicked out - shaking his head - and it could've ended there, to the delight of everyone in attendance. The Ultimate Warrior's frenzied run-in just about saved the match from total abomination, but the outcome ended up as a mediocre Hogan victory by way of Disqualification, This was the Main Event of WrestleMania, and it didn't look as though it could be topped in terms of awfulness. That was, until the following year...
