IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion 2021: 8 Things That Must Happen

6. The Slammiversary Teases Begin

Teases. And then more teases. Topped off with just one other tease.

That's what made last year's Slammiversary pay-per-view so special. They took immense advantage of the Black Wednesday releases by producing a series of vignettes to hype up their July event, featuring a whole host of the released talent.

What made this even more special, however, is that they didn't just stick to the names they knew they had signed. The likes of Kurt Angle, Mike and Maria Kanellis, and Lio Rush were all included in the promotional packages too, despite never returning (or debuting, in Lio's case) at Slammiversary.

Hell, even non-Black Wednesday releases were included in the hype packages. Everyone from Sting to Bully Ray, from Gail Kim to The Beautiful People, from The Amazing Red to Austin Aries were mentioned as well. Of course, the only non-Black Wednesday returns at last year's Slammiversary came via The Motor City Machine Guns and Rich Swann.

The teases made Slammiversary 2020 feel much grander than it actually was. More fans than normal tuned into the pay-per-view just to see who was going to turn up. There's something incredible about a return or a debut in professional wrestling. It's why we love the Royal Rumble so much. IMPACT should take advantage of this once more.
