Having been out of action since August, AEW's Thunder Rosa is edging ever-closer to a return to the ring.

As per the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the hope is that La Mera Mera will be back in action in February. The hugely talented star has been able to start doing squats again, has begun running, and it able to life a 2lb dumbbell.

In terms of what's caused Rosa to have this spell on the sidelines, it's a back issue that's forced her to step take a break from the squared circle.

Of course, Thunder was the AEW Women's Champion at the time that these issues came to the fore. As such, the decision was made to go the interim route, with Toni Storm becoming the Interim AEW Women's Champion at All Out this past September. Since then, Rosa has been formally stripped off her title, the interim tag has been scrapped, and now Jamie Hayter hold's the company's top female prize.

Given how Saraya will team with a mystery parter to face Hayter and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. on the 11 January episode of Dynamite, some have speculated that said partner could end up being Thunder Rosa. If this latest update is indeed correct, it would appear that the 11 January date would come a little too soon for Rosa.
