Jack G. King's 10 Greatest Wrestlers Of All Time
5. CM Punk
Triple H was the man that got me into wrestling, but also (along with John Cena) the man that pushed me away. It's just not fun seeing the same two guys win all the time.
CM Punk, however, was the man that dragged me back. His inclusion this high on the list may seem dubious, especially for a man whose peak was so brief and recent, but the Chicago native genuinely did enough in such a short space of time to become an all-time favourite.
Those unfamiliar with his work on the independent scene should really seek it out, because I didn't have as deep an appreciation for Punk as a wrestler until I'd seen him clash with Samoa Joe, Austin Aries and close friend Colt Cabana. The man is considered a ROH legend for a reason.
Beyond that, however, we have the summer of 2011. Without that angle - the infamous pipebomb promo, the victory over John Cena, and the lengthy title reign that followed - WWE would be nowhere near as progressive and enthralling a place as it is now. Daniel Bryan wouldn't have triumphed at WrestleMania XXX, The Shield wouldn't have captured our imaginations and there would have been no 'New Era' without CM Punk.
Also he's really cool on the mic, and you can't really argue with that.
