Jack King's 10 Favourite WWE Matches Of All Time
2. John Cena Vs. CM Punk - Money In The Bank 2011
This was the match (and angle) that brought a lot of lapsed fans back on board with WWE, and set in motion the indie revolution we're currently experiencing today. Without it, Daniel Bryan would never have won the WWE Championship, nor would superstars such as Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn be given the chances we're seeing right now.
Even without CM Punk's iconic pipebomb promo and subsequent shattering of the glass ceiling, the match was a damn good one. The much-maligned Cena pulled out one of his greatest performances ever, while Punk was also very much on top his game - riding a deafening wave of momentum provided by his hometown crowd.
The finish, as with many matches on this list, has since passed into wrestling lore. Vince attempted to screw Punk, only for Cena to refuse help...and immediately fall victim to the Go 2 Sleep! A three count and failed MITB cash-in later, and the Chicago native was free to clamber over the guardrail and make his dramatic escape.
Hidden Highlight: Punk's priceless reaction to the opening "You can't wrestle" chants. He gestures at himself in confusion, prompting the crowd to scream "No!", before pointing at Cena to huge cheers. The perfect combination of sports entertainment and smarky goodness.
