10. Beating JBL For The WWE Title - WrestleMania 21
Let's begin properly with Cena still on the up - and still cheered by the masses. When he went over JBL and won his first world title at WrestleMania 21, the tide was turning towards a new crop of stars. Batista beat Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of 'Mania 21, and suddenly two new faces of the company were born.
This wasn't just a massive moment in the career of Cena, it ushered in a new age of Superstars that could compete with the old guard, both in the ring and at the box office. The SmackDown Six were entrenched in the mid-card around this time, but all of them got their chance in the spotlight after the Cena and Batista triumphs.
Cena was still a popular figure in 2005; along with The Animal, Randy Orton, and Brock Lesnar he would lead the WWE through the Ruthless Aggression Era. The booking of these guys is something WWE is crying out for today; with Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns at the top of the company now, we may be heading for another new age.
