John Cena's 10 Most Shocking WWE Defeats

3. Vs. CM Punk - Money In The Bank 2011

The championship match between John Cena and CM Punk in Chicago is possibly the most controversial title match in WWE history not involving a certain Canadian in pink tights. In front of a mercilessly hostile crowd, Cena was to defend his title against the hometown hero and if he were to lose, not only would he be fired, CM Punk would leave the whole company with championship in hand, as his contract would be expiring that night. Life was imitating art here €“ Punk really WAS set to leave the company at midnight, and had cut a historic, scathing promo a few weeks prior where he aired his grievances and reasons for leaving the company live on RAW. No one knew for sure what was going to happen on this night. The two fought for over half an hour and rocked the house, with fans never giving up hope that Punk would somehow pull the heist off. After interference from Vince McMahon backfired, Punk did the unthinkable and got the three count on Cena, following a GTS. He escaped through the crowd, dodging a Money in the Bank cash in attempt and blowing Vince a kiss along the way, leaving everyone with one question - what next??
