John Cena's WWE Return: 10 Things We Can Expect

2. A HUGE Main Event

John Cena and Roman Reigns' original singles encounter was a profound failure when measured against its objective measures.

Reigns didn't feel like a made man atop WWE no matter how many times Cena raised his arm after the bout, nor did the result really register as one that was hard-fought or remotely tougher than any other match since he first split from The Shield three years earlier. If anything, it felt as though Roman had won the argument that had started in their promo battle - he was Vince McMahon's new golden boy, but that had been the problem all along anyway.

None of this will matter at SummerSlam.

'The Tribal Chief' infuses his heel act with menace, physical dominance and cold and calculated violence. Cena will have to climb mountains he's never been less prepared for just to avoid him facing the same sh*tkicking he suffered at the hands of Brock Lesnar in 2014, but will also likely bask in the spotlight of pushing the Universal Champion as far as anybody since he claimed the prize almost one year ago.

All this, and 40,000+ looking on. The pandemic isn't over (regardless of how wrestling has proceeded), but this contest will be.
