John Cena's WWE Return: 10 Things We Can Expect

1. An Injury Write-Off

If John Cena is going to exit as slickly as he re-entered, he should do so being wheeled out on a gurney following a total battering by either Roman Reigns or alternatively another heel the company has high hopes for.

As a Reigns victim, 'The Champ' could be counted as Reigns' most prominent scalp so far. As somebody else's, he creates the reason for a new story that could drag out as far as WrestleMania, perhaps with some sort of interaction at the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber along the way.

Just because everybody knows this (and every) return is shaped around a filming schedule, it doesn't mean WWE has to cater completely to it. It's fine within WWE's narrative universe for Cena to be recuperating in a hospital bed rather than simply working on new television projects. Especially if he's been put there by a younger talent in desperate need of a match to elevate them to the upper tier.

Rarely does 'Big Match John' look so weak, too. At his age and this point in his career, the visual of a doomed Cena would be more potent than any time in his illustrious 20-year run.
