While many fans were clamouring for Swerve Strickland to walk out of AEW Dynasty as a two-time AEW World Champion, we instead had Jon Moxley walking out of Philadelphia's Liacouras Center with the company's top prize still in his possession.

As expected, Strickland vs. Moxley headlined Dynasty, and it was ultimately the returning Young Bucks who had the biggest say in this match.

Going 31 minutes, the Dynasty main event had involvement from Marina Shafir, Prince Nana, 'Hangman' Adam Page, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta, Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook, before it looked like Swerve finally had the match won. There, Swerve threw a chair at Mox's head and hit him with the Swerve Stomp. With referee Paul Turner having been taken out earlier, the lights went out, coming back on to show Matt and Nick Jackson in the ring as they hit the BTE Trigger on Strickland, which allowed Moxley to get the win.

And with that, Swerve Strickland becomes the latest name to come up short in their quest to dethrone Jon Moxley as the AEW World Champion, following in the footsteps of Orange Cassidy, Jay White, Adam Page, Powerhouse Hobbs, Christian Cage, and Cope - all competitors who likewise failed to put an end to Moxley's fourth reign at the top of the AEW mountain.

The Return Of The Young Bucks

The last time fans saw Matt and Nick Jackson was six months ago on the Halloween-themed Fright Night edition of Dynamite. That was the same Dynamite where the Young Bucks lost the AEW Tag Team Championships to Private Party, with the Jacksons later stating how they were going to "work from home" due to their fear of the Death Riders.

Skip ahead to now, and the Bucks have returned to give Moxley and his Death Riders an assist.

Reports over the weekend noted how the Jacksons - who are EVPs for the company - had been backstage for the past several episodes of AEW Dynamite, and that plans were being pitched for their return to TV. Now that we've had that return, it remains to be seen where things go from here, with the Young Bucks, as mentioned, having previously put their heads in the sand and ignoring the actions of the Death Riders. Are Matt and Nick now aligned with Moxley's group, or was AEW Dynasty more specifically about the Bucks wanting to cost Swerve Strickland?

As for the Death Riders, elsewhere at Dynasty, Claudio Clastagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta successfully retained the AEW Trios Titles against Rated FTR after Wheeler put away Dax Harwood. Post-match, FTR turned heel by laying out Cope with a piledriver, a Shatter Machine, and a Conchairto. With the Death Riders walking out of Dynasty the same way they walked in - all as champions - fans now turn their attention to who might finally put an end to what has been an extremely divisive run from the group.
