Jushin Liger will wrestle the final two matches of his illustrious career on New Japan Pro Wrestling's grandest stage, as confirmed today by the company's official Twitter.

Liger will compete in a legend-filled eight-man tag on January 4th that will also include Tatsumi Fujinami, The Great Sasuke, Tiger Mask, Naoki Sano, Shinjiro Otani, Tatsuhito Takaiwa and Ryusuke Taguchi. It is currently unclear who Liger will face in his last battle the next night.

The news comes just 24 hours after Liger lost an absorbing war to longstanding pro wrestling/mixed martial arts rival Minoru Suzuki, concluding a feud that many initially felt would be saved for at least one of the two Tokyo Dome extravaganzas in January. Liger bid emotional farewell to the King Of Pro Wrestling crowd at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, as he has for most of his final encounters in buildings across the globe over the last year.

The programme has featured a host of callbacks to the pair's prior altercations beyond NJPW, as well as providing audiences with what will likely prove to be the last ever appearance of his maniacal alter ego Kishin Liger.
