Kurt Angle's 10 Greatest Moments

1. Winning His First WWE Title

Kurt may have back-doored his way into his inaugural reign as WWE's top dog thanks to botched interference from Rikishi and Triple H, but in doing so capped off one of the most impressive debut years in wrestling history.

And though it wasn't his finest WWE match, the moment Kurt Angle concluded an excellent contest with The Rock represented everything truly special about the 'Olympic Gold Medallist'.

Since debuting eleven months earlier at the Survivor Series, Kurt had rapidly clocked up European and Intercontinental Title victories, a King of the Ring win, and masterfully manipulated Triple H in order to get closer to his wife Stephanie McMahon, using the cracks in their relationship to gain this championship match and convince the 'Billion Dollar Princess' to be his permanent manager.

Covering The Rock in a cloud of controversy was the perfect crescendo to everything Kurt had stirred up in his rookie year, and as the tearful Angle replicated his Olympic victory celebrations with the WWE Title Belt, his outclassed foes could only look on in total disbelief.

In every aspect of the performance, Angle had already proved he belonged at the highest level, and would remain there for the duration of his professional career.
