Kurt Angle's 10 Greatest Moments
8. “…Truth Be Told, I’m Not A Very Big Fan Of The Black People”
Responding to a curious phenomenon that began during his feud with crowd whipping boy John Cena, Kurt went to hilarious lengths to prove just how worshipped he had become by WWE fans.
Though the norm in 2017, it was still an oddity to have a traditional heel so overwhelmingly cheered, and before those within the company had isolated it to strictly being a John Cena problem, Angle was able to turn the situation into a positive for himself in this tongue-in-cheek assault on the sanctity of the United States of America.
Speaking before his first ever Elimination Chamber match at New Year's Revolution 2006, Angle cut one of the funniest promos of his career, cutting off Todd Grisham during his questioning to advise viewers that he hoped the US would lose the Iraq War, that France is probably the best country in the world anyway, that he'd go back in time and tap out Jesus, and the hilariously-delivered slight on 'the black people'.
It was the type of comedy only somebody as multi-faceted as Kurt would be able to get across, and he did so with typical grace, closing his speech to thunderous cheers from the capacity crowd.
