This past weekend, Forbes and Dave Meltzer both independently reported that WWE have been furiously contacting several former stars about returning to the company ahead of the forthcoming brand split and draft.

Kurt Angle was named amongst those possibly contacted, and Angle himself has now spoken publicly about a potential return.

Angle spoke to Mark Madden recently on Madden's Pittsburgh-based radio show to promote the 'Legends of Wrestling Night' that takes place in the city this evening, and the Olympic gold medallist confirmed that he is on good terms with WWE and has had meetings with Vince McMahon and Triple H in the last six weeks. When asked about a return Angle replied 'Will I return? Yes. I don't know when'.

Angle has made no secret of his desire to end his career in WWE, and that would seem to be closer to becoming a reality. Angle said in the interview that he feels he has a few more years left in him inside the ring, crediting DDP Yoga and a change in diet with improving his physical condition, but that his long term future lies as a manager. When asked who of the current crop of WWE stars he'd be interested in mentoring, the name that everyone wanted to hear was uttered; American Alpha.

Will we get to see the situation that everyone and their dog has fantasy booked, an American Alpha on the main roster allied with Kurt Angle? Until contracts are signed and audiences are chanting 'You Suck' with smiles on their faces we can't be sure, but the signs are good.

Angle also spoke highly of Zack Sabre Jr. stating that while he needs to add muscle Sabre Jr. is well on his way to being one of the top talents on the planet.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
