Details on why Vince McMahon hasn't been attending most WWE events lately.
Fightful Select are reporting that Vince McMahon was backstage for Friday's episode of SmackDown on FOX.
The WWE boss had been absent from recent tapings due to the death of his brother Roderick on 20 January. It was noted in both The Wrestling Observer and Fightful that McMahon remained hands-on with other company officials whilst mourning his loss. That remote authority reigned over last Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view and recent editions of Raw and SmackDown.
Make no mistake - Vince was very much still in charge of everything that was going on.
Even so, it must've been weird for WWE staff to operate without their usually ever-present captain there to steer the ship in person. By all accounts, the Rumble and recent TV shows went off without a hitch, but don't expect McMahon to make this a regular thing in the future.
The 75 year old is the boss and that's that.
It'll be interesting to see if Vince is at Tropicana Field again for Monday's episode of Raw. Fightful predict that he's very much back at work and raring to get stuck into WrestleMania season again.
