Madcap Moss' first WWE tryout sounds like it was a complete and utter disaster.

The SmackDown wrestler told the story of how things went catastrophically wrong during the session, doing so on Out of Character with Ryan Satin. Moss wasn't the calamity victim, though: everybody else was.

Diving into it, the 32-year-old stated that four of the five guys attending the tryout weren't ready for the required level of exertion. Madcap was the only attendee to not throw up or pull a muscle (h/t SEScoops):-

“The first tryout was a bit of a disaster. Not so much for me. There was only five guys total, including myself. The other four guys, with all due respect, were not ready for the intense cardio and training. So like five minutes into the first session, the other four had either pulled a muscle or were puking on the outside. I was the only one still going."

Continuing, Moss revealed the honest (but atrocious) excuse one WWE hopeful gave for their poor performance:-

"As I’m doing this, there’s a legendary line in here. I won’t say names but the head coach at the time asked one of the guys. He said ‘How long have you known about this tryout?’ The talent responded ‘Four weeks sir.’ He said, ‘What did you do to prepare?’ ‘Drank beer, sir.’ Everyone looks at [him and go] ‘Well, he’s honest, at least.’ Obviously, that did not go over well with the coaches."

But despite feeling like he, personally, excelled at this chaotic tryout, Moss wasn't offered a WWE contract on the back of it. Officials told him that while they wanted to see him again, they hadn't gotten through everything they wanted during the session:-

“So anyway, long story short. I went all out, and I was just by far in the best cardio shape and had the best performance. I thought, ‘well, this one’s in the bag. This one’s easy.’ At the end, they told me ‘Look, we didn’t even get to half the stuff that we normally get to. We like you and we want to see you again, but we can’t offer you a contract just based off this tryout.'”

Moss ended up signing a WWE developmental contract in 2014, having attended a second tryout following the aforementioned debacle. He was a television regular alongside Tino Sabbatelli by October 2016. Now, eight years after joining WWE, he has a steady presence as a SmackDown babyface, having split from tag partner Happy Corbin earlier this year.
