Roman Reigns could be on the verge of getting a new title belt in WWE.
Fightful Select reports that while the situation is subject to change, WWE had devised plans for tonight's SmackDown to host a 1,000 Day Celebration for Roman Reigns as Universal Champion. Interestingly, a "New WWE Universal Championship" was mentioned as part of the notes, with WWE set to use a podium for the Celebration.
It is understood that that segment would resemble The Rock's unveiling of a new WWE Championship belt in 2013. Again, it should be stressed that things could change before SmackDown tonight, with the report stemming from internal memos and discussions.
Reigns has been carrying two world title belts on his shoulder since dethroning Brock Lesnar as WWE Champion at WrestleMania 38 last April. In doing so, he effectively became a double strap-holder as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, having taken the Uni title from Bray Wyatt's 'Fiend' in August 2020.
WWE recently installed a new World Heavyweight Championship on Raw, with Seth Rollins defeating AJ Styles to take the new piece of gold at Night of Champions 2023 last Saturday.
