Mark Henry Considering WWE Retirement In 2016
Former World Champion talks about the end of his career.
Former WWE World Champion Mark Henry was in India recently for a promotional appearance for WWE and told the Times of India that he might retire: "I may retire next year. It may be the swan-song of my wrestling career; but definitely not the end of Mark Henry!" 2016 may seem the right time for him to retire as an active competitor. He's 44 years old, isn't likely to get a serious long-term push again and is barely on WWE television these days. Henry also signed with WWE in 1996, so if he retires in 2016 it will be 20 years as a performer. Next year's WrestleMania is also in the state of Texas, which is where Henry is from, so it could be the perfect spot for him to call it a career. Maybe he can be one of the featured performers in the annual battle royal and they can give him a big spot there. Henry also spoke about his plans after he retires: "Well, Ive done it all; won several championships. My ambition now is to be a part of finding the future talent of wrestling and open up the sport to countries like India." A lot of long time WWE employees like Henry have found careers in WWE after they retired, whether it's in a backstage role, as a talent scout or just being an ambassador for the company. WWE is such a big organization that they can always find something for people to do when they retire if they want to stay involved.
