Veteran ex-WWE referee Mike Chioda has revealed some of the things Vince McMahon doesn't want to see from officials in the company.

Chioda said, via his 'Monday Mailbag' show, that Vince has always been against the thought of refs having visible tattoos on their arms. Any ink work that's hidden by company referee shirts is fine, but anything on the forearm, wrist or hand is frowned upon.

You might've noticed that a lot of WWE refs are in great physical shape these days too. According to Mike, that's no coincidence - he recalled several occasions during which McMahon encouraged him to "drop a few pounds".

Vince didn't go overboard with that, but he did/does want his officials to look like they can keep up with the action in-ring. Chioda doesn't have a problem with that, and actually joked that today's officials look like "they’re working out more than they’re learning how to referee".

So, there you go. No tatts on show (Chioda has one on his shoulder, but it was always covered) and an athletic look. Those are McMahon's rules, and have been for decades.
