Mil Mascaras To Be Inducted Into WWE Hall of Fame 2012

It is expected that current WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, who is actually the Uncle of 69 year old Mascaras, will induct the Mexican legend into the Hall of Fame next Spring in Miami, Florida.

As we reported in our WWE SmackDown Taping Spoilers, Lucha Libre legend Mil Mascaras became the first announced inductee into next year's 2012 edition of WWE Hall of Fame. Triple H and Colt Cabrera announced his induction at the live taping from Mexico City. It is expected that current WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, who is actually the Uncle of 69 year old Mascaras, will induct the Mexican legend into the Hall of Fame next Spring in Miami, Florida. In terms of his WWF/WWE history (which although the Hall of Fame has become a Wrestling rather than Company Hall of Fame, it obviously helps if you have wrestled in the WWF/E... ask Sting) he wrestled for the company at Madison Square Garden in 1972 where he defeated the Spoiler. An interesting trivia note is that wrestlers were banned from wearing masks at the Garden which meant the Spoiler had to wrestle with his face on show but a ban was lifted specifically for Mascaras and he was allowed to wear his. This made him the first wrestler to compete under a mask at the Garden. Mascaras would later feud with "Superstar" Billy Graham over the WWF World Heavyweight Title (though would never win it). He would turn up again at the 1997 Royal Rumble, his first American PPV appearance when he eliminated himself whilst executing a dive over the top move on Pierroth, Jr on the outside, a move common in Lucha Libre but obviously no good for the Rumble!
