New Details On Ricardo Rodriguez's WWE Release

New information emerges regarding the longtime ring announcer for Alberto Del Rio

During the massive budget cuts that the WWE underwent over the past week, one of the most high-profile releases was that of Ricardo Rodriguez, who had been a character on WWE TV for several years. Now new information has emerged regarding the motivation behind the cut. F4WOnline is reporting that Rodriguez had grown frustrated that he wasn't being utilized as an in-ring talent in any significant manner following his on-screen split with Alberto Del Rio. Rodriguez had served as Del Rio's personal ring announcer since his debut in 2010, until their split in 2013. Rodriguez's physical condition also likely played a major factor in the WWE not using him in the ring, as well as the fact that he's been injured during recent months. Rodriguez did however participate in several WWE and NXT matches as the masked "El Local" wrestler. Rodriguez's contract was actually set to expire shortly following Summerslam this year, after he originally signed his WWE deal around SummerSlam 2010. The original person the WWE had in mind to use as Del Rio's personal ring announcer had no interest in the role, which gave Ricardo the tryout for the position, in which he ended up getting. As of now, Rodriguez has not announced if he plans on taking outside bookings.
