New Details On The Lucha Bros Leaving AEW For WWE

More on Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix potentially swapping AEW for WWE.

Following recent reports that the Lucha Bros could soon be exiting AEW and heading to WWE, there's now somewhat of an update on this situation.

Per Fightful Select, Penta El Zero Miedo's AEW deal expires first, with his brother Rey Fenix's contract set to finish up "around September" - meaning these two AEW Originals could both be free agents by next month.

WWE has had internal talks about bringing in the Lucha Bros, and the talents themselves are said to want to be presented as a package deal and want to go to the main roster rather than spend any time in NXT. A source close to the hugely talented siblings said it wouldn't be a surprise to see them in Orlando sooner rather than later in preparation for signing with WWE. Of course, Orlando is where the WWE Performance Center is and where various wrestlers have been assessed ahead of signing with the company or making a return from injury.

Interestingly, Fightful adds that numerous sources close to the Lucha Bros have said the duo has been open in stating how they've had talks with WWE already and that a preliminary offer has been made to them. Given how Penta and Fenix are still under AEW contract, that certainly throws up some questions. As for that preliminary offer, it's believed to be similar to what AEW has offered the two to re-sign with Tony Khan's promotion.

While it can't entirely be ruled out that the Lucha Bros will end up signing new deals with AEW, right now it seems pretty clear that a move to WWE seems the most likely scenario for the former AEW Tag Team Champions.
