Nic Nemeth is pissed off that the TNA Title is on an NXT talent.

With NXT's Trick Williams creating history over the weekend by defeating Joe Hendry for the TNA World Title, Nic Nemeth - a former TNA World Champion himself - is not happy about it.

We were recently lucky enough to grab some time with Nic and Ryan Nemeth, the current TNA Tag Team Champions, to discuss a whole array of topics, and one such topic that came up was Trick Willy's big win at NXT Battleground. With that win, Williams became the first WWE-contracted talent to win TNA's biggest prize, and marks Trick's first slice of gold since losing the NXT Title to Oba Femi in January.

On Joe Hendry losing the TNA World Championship to a wrestler from a different promotion, Nic Nemeth said:

"I’m absolutely furious and pissed off about it, and that’s not a joke or a game or, like, isn’t this a funny snip or clip to play. I feel like Joe Hendry has accomplished so much, and he’s brought so many eyes to TNA, and he’s kicked so much ass. This isn’t a world of participation medals and awards that says, ‘Hey, great job, you lost our World title to a different guy from a different company.’"

Continuing, Nic even suggested bringing back Wrestlers' Court for Joe:

"So, I don’t go, ‘Hey, great job, buddy. Thanks for trying really hard and losing our title to a different company.’ I say, I congratulate him when he brings people in, when he defends that title. He beat me, and I said, ‘Dammit, you beat me, you got me.’ And when you lose it and you mess up, just like I do to myself, or I get on Ryan’s case, when we make mistakes, we own up to it. He lost our World Title. I am not okay with that. I feel like we might need to bring back Wrestlers’ Court or something, or pull him aside. If everyone’s gonna pat him on the back for the good things, we need to let him know that he messed up and lost our World Title."

As for Trick Williams, former two-time WWE World Champion Nemeth added:

"Trick Williams is a badass, he’s awesome, he’s got a great future. But he is an NXT talent that’s now the TNA World Champion, and I am pissed off about it."

Trick Williams, TNA World Champion

The NXT Battleground main event saw Trick Williams beat Joe Hendry in a 15-minute back-and-forth to become the new TNA World Champion, putting the Scot away after a thumb to the eye, a slam on the TNA Title, and then the Trick Shot for the 1-2-3.

Given how things went down, Hendry will surely be chasing a rematch in the imminent future, though he is far from the only one who has their eyes on Trick and the TNA World Championship. Not least, Mike Santana has already gone face-to-face with Trick Williams, with Santana vs. Williams already set for next week's NXT. For Santana, he's been on a tear since branching out as a singles act, be that in TNA or over at House of Glory, where his fantastic reign as the HOG World Champion is closing in on 600 days.

While Santana makes a whole lot of sense to be the one to take the TNA World Title back to the Anthem promotion, Trick Williams could find himself with certain other talents to deal with in the meantime. Heck, given Nic Nemeth's heated words, maybe Nic himself is eyeing a second run as the TNA Champion. In terms of other former TNA World Champions, Eric Young, Moose, Steve Maclin, Eddie Edwards, Sami Callihan, and the Hardys are all active members of the TNA roster who might feel like they should be the one to bring the company's top prize home.

In the meantime, UK fans can get one month of the TNA+ streaming service completely free by using the promo code LEONYIC, courtesy of the UK's own Leon Slater.
