In the aftermath of opting not to work a three-minute match at AEW Collision this past weekend, Nixon Newell has revealed she's received death threats from some "wrestling fans".

For those who may have missed it, Nixon and Miranda Alize were scheduled to work a tag team match at Collision, where they would lose to Tay Melo and Anna Jay in three minutes. Reports over the weekend noted how Newell and Alize left the venue after deciding that a three-minute bout did nothing for anyone involved. Instead, Hyan and Maya World took that spot against TayJay.

Speaking on her latest Twitch stream, Nixon Newell explained what happened on Saturday, noting how she and Miranda Aliza came with "a bunch of ideas", had been told to "make ourselves a credible tag team" following their previous promo, but were then told that the TayJay match was going to be a three-minute loss. The loss wasn't a problem, but Nixon and Miranda felt that three minutes wasn't going to benefit anyone, and so they respectfully told their producer that they'd prefer that opportunity to go to someone else. As Newell stated, there was no "bad blood" or any sort of "f**k you, we're leaving", and they instead received a text message saying they were free to go.

Nixon detailed how Houston's Bayou Music Center - the venue of that Collision taping - is "very, very tiny", so she and Alize decided to make space for people and head home.

Worringly, Nixon Newell also said how she's received death threats over this situation, describing those as "lovely" and "incredible", and saying how, at the time of yesterday's Twitch stream, she'd already received three such threats that day.

It should go without saying, anyone sending death threats to anyone should seek help, let alone sending death threats based on weird pro wrestling fandom.
