When the top guy in the promotion personally endorses you to join, you've gotta be doing something right.

If you've read my recent articles, you can probably tell that I'm pretty fond of the Aerial Assassin. You could chalk up my glowing assessments to some fanboyishness, but in 2015, when Kazuchika Okada wrestled him, he was so impressed, he personally told New Japan officials to sign Ospreay, and they did. So if my love for William is fanboyishness, then I'm in good company.

Since being brought in on Okada's endorsement, Ospreay has been a two-time Best of Super Juniors finalist (including a win in 2016), enjoyed two reigns with the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship, and has played a key role in bringing new eyes to the New Japan product. During the 2016 BOSJ tournament, all anyone could talk about was his insane, GIF-tacular match with Ricochet. Whether people loved or hated it, they were talking about it, and that brought focus to what was going on in New Japan.

Whether or not Ospreay graduates into the heavyweight division is uncertain, but whatever he does, he will continue to make the company, and CHAOS, more amazing.
