NJPW G1 Climax 2018, THE FINAL WEEK: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

14. YOSHI-HASHI Vs. Hangman Page (August 10)

Kenny Omega Kota Ibushi
NJPW

Rating: **1/2

Hangman Page was everything his opponent wasn't in this year's G1. YOSHI-HASHI showed flashes of brilliance against Michael Elgin and Kazuchika Okada, but was every bit the broken down performer he looked from Night 1 onwards, destined to round out the loser's field in an A Block he could have shone in.

Page also only accrued six points, but did so as one of the entire event's standout performers. In defeat he shone as a gutsy underdog, in victory he showed teases of his potential as a future headliner. His loss here (the second upset of the night - playing in to a narrative that added tension to the evening's main event) was yet more literal talent enhancement.
