NJPW G1 Climax 2019 Night 10 (July 28) - B BLOCK: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Hirooki Goto Vs. Toru Yano

The beautiful Gotoshiki pinning hold was the difference-maker in a rapid-fire opener between CHAOS allies Toru Yano and Hirooki Goto, where yet again the ‘Sublime Master Thief’s booking called for a good time rather than a long one.

As with his battles with Tetsuya Naito and Jay White, Yano’s battle with Goto was kept short enough to keep a sense of urgency despite his clowning.

An early back-and-forth over swapping t-shirts was about as far as Goto was willing to be drawn in, but surviving a series of roll-ups from his clownish colleague was all he needed to do to get on the shortest route to victory.

For all the worthy effort Goto’s made in this G1, he only tied up on points with Yano as result of this win, whilst the latter’s tournament has been substantially more entertaining to watch. At just 1:44, this, subversively, may prove to be the former Climax winner's most successful outing this year.
