NJPW G1 Climax 2019 Night 3 (July 14) - A BLOCK: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Will Ospreay Vs. SANADA

Will Ospreay SANADA
NJPW

SANADA went hold-for-hold with one of the best technical wrestlers in the world in victory over Zack Sabre Jr during their first outings in this year's G1, and almost pulled off the same feat against arguably the finest all-rounder in the industry before falling to some vintage fire from the 'Aerial Assassin'.

Going at some clip, Will Ospreay gave his body to the cause yet again, suffering a stinger late in the match that not only called into question his next contest with Kota Ibushi, but his overall health and physical wellbeing this early in the tournament. In registering a win here, he got off the mark before potentially losing points to future forfeits, but it wasn't without surviving a war waged more at his pace than an opener hit-and-run with Lance Archer.

'Cold Skull' stretched Ospreay to breaking point with the devastating submission that matched his moniker, but he was outworked in the one place he couldn't match his opponent - the air. Slipping from his grasp with a devastating back kick to SANADA's face when the LIJ man attempted to use his own Oscutter against him, Ospreay hit his own before flattening and finishing his foe with a Stormbreaker.
