NJPW G1 Climax 2019 Night 4 (July 15) - B BLOCK: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Jeff Cobb Vs. Jon Moxley

Jeff Cobb Jon Moxley
NJPW

Jon Moxley is in the form of his life.

Never ever did the former Dean Ambrose wrestle with the poise and expressiveness he's found in so few matches as the reinvented version of himself in NJPW. This isn't to undermine The Shield nor Moxley's hard-working shifts during unappreciated solo runs, but there exists an energy within the unhinged 'Mox' that preserves him as both the toughest man in the f*cking world and wrestling's biggest star the moment he appears.

Jeff Cobb, for all his graft (and an arsenal expertly exploited in comparison a disappointing effort against Tomohiro Ishii) was unmoved by the challenge ahead, powering through Moxley in an effort to steamroll both the man and his unrelenting momentum. It was ultimately unsuccessful - perhaps keen to flex as well as secure the points, Moxley shared his shooting style, gradually grappling Cobb to the point of no return.

Working (and working for) his Death Rider against his much larger foe was the icing on a file-filled cake. "I don't know Jeff Cobb, but I respect him!" exclaimed the wild United States Champion ahead of the match. Only Jon Moxley would express said respect by spiking his head into the canvas from an elevated position instead of a shared vertical base. Bliss. Wicked, twisted bliss.
