NJPW G1 Climax 30: Every Participant's Chance Of Winning Ranked From Worst To Best
17. Toru Yano
Toru Yano is the ultimate spoiler in the G1 Climax. He's capable of beating anyone, at any time; no matter who they are or what standing in the block they have, Toru Yano can beat you.
In previous G1s, he's beaten Tetsuya Naito, Kenny Omega, and caused the mental deterioration of Jon Moxley last year after he beat him. He is a genius inclusion in any G1 tournament because he can mess up your bracket with a single failed DVD sale. His role is not as the winner, but as someone who ruins others' chances of victory.
Toru Yano has already spoiled a tournament this year, with his roll up over Okada in the King of Pro Wrestling fatal 4 way cementing him as the inaugural winner and the person who will defend his status as the king until the end of the year. Yano is certain to incorporate this into his angles for the rest of the year, and won’t have time to focus on winning the G1 tournament.
Yano will do what he does best, ruining everyone’s bets by pinning someone that no one expected he‘d defeat. He’s an essential player in the tournament, but will not be winning anytime soon.
