NXT: 10 Worst Creative Decisions Of The Full Sail Era
3. Leo Kruger Becomes Adam Rose
706111There's an old expression about wheels and whether or not they should be fixed if they aint broke.
Such is the case of the South African Kraven the Hunter-esque Leo Kruger who terrorized NXT for two years. A dangerous heel, this man stalked his prey like a beast and delivered crippling offense that could shorten careers. Well one day someone decided the character had grown stale and decided to reboot him as something else entirely.
In January 2014 Adam Rose was born.
An eccentric, flamboyant, party animal with his own entourage of costumed ... Rosebuds, this character was a polar opposite of Leo Kruger (it's a credit to the man that he can play both convincingly). Rose made his entrance with the aid of his Rosebuds and a song that you will never get out of your head once you start thinking about it (too late!) He was immediately over with the Full Sail crowd on his first night.
Unfortunately no one waited to see how the character would survive long term and he was rushed onto the main roster. The Full Sail crowd are usually more open minded than a Raw crowd when it comes to ridiculous gimmicks and one positive reaction on his first night was not enough to promise success on Monday nights.
People soon became tired of Rose (mostly due to the refusal of the writers to give him any character development beyond hating lemons) and he was soon demoted to back to Superstars and then forced into a never ending feud with his own Bunny.
No wonder fans have been chanting "Leo Kruger" at him for nearly a year now.
