Oklahoma Athletic Commission Gave AEW A Warning Over Nyla Rose Match

OSAC issued AEW with a warning in January for a Nyla Rose vs. Alejandra Lion match.

The Oklahoma State Athletic Commission issued AEW with a warning after Nyla Rose competed at the 20 December 2023 AEW/ROH tapings from Oklahoma City's Paycom Center.

Rose competed against Alejandra Lion on that date in a match that aired on the 28 December edition of ROH on HonorClub. As per minutes from an OSAC meeting in January, the Commission voted to give AEW a warning for having a transgender woman compete against a cisgender woman, informing AEW that this was a violation of OSAC rules.

OSAC Administrator Jim Miller was informed of Rose vs. Lion by a local wrestling promotion that had been warned for that same violation themselves previously. This prompted Miller to contact AEW, which was in turn followed by OSAC's Dr. Larry Lovelace leading a motion to issue AEW with a formal warning.

Nyla has since responded to this warning on X, and has even said how the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission has effectively turned her babyface due to all of the support she's received on this matter.

Nyla Rose has been with AEW since the formation of the company, becoming the promotion's second-ever Women's Champion back in February 2020. While the Native Beast isn't as featured as she once was on AEW programming, she forever makes for an entertaining time whenever she does pop up on AEW TV. Away from AEW, though, Nyla has been a fun part of Ring of Honor for the past several months.
