When both world title matches didn't main event WrestleMania 33, many fans knew exactly what was coming.

Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker was the match that closed this show, an odd choice on paper but, when you find out what happened after the final bell, it makes total sense.

Reigns overpowered a tired and ropey Deadman to hand 'Taker his second ever WrestleMania defeat. After the match was done, Taker sat in the ring, looking defeated in more ways than one.

He knew that his time had come.

He slowly removed his trademark, coat, hat, and gloves and, in the most telling sign of all, kissed his real-life wife, Michelle McCool, at ringside. The Undertaker breaking kayfabe is about as common as a hen's tooth or an Ultimate Warrior promo that makes sense. It was then that it dawned on fans around the world.

The Undertaker was retiring.

27 years, countless matches, and infinite memories had all led to this moment. The Phenom was finally stepping away from the ring, wandering back into the smoke one last time as the Orlando crowd cheered him to his rest.

Or so we thought...
