One Iconic Moment For Every Year Of The Undertaker's WWE Career
2. 2019 - Post-'Mania Return
WrestleMania 35 - also known as the last proper 'Mania before the world fell apart - was the first Show of Shows not to feature The Undertaker for almost two decades.
Coincidence?
Well, yes, it is.
Anyway, someone who did make their return at WrestleMania 35 was John Cena, who revived his Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick for one night only. He laid a verbal smackdown on Elias and then... disappeared forever.
Weird.
Not to be outdone by his opponent from the year before, The Deadman appeared the very next night on Raw, once again to step into the ring with Elias.
It was beautifully foreshadowed when Elias said that the next person to interrupt him would be "a dead man". Lo and behold, he was.
'Taker made short work of Elias, taking him down with a Chokeslam before delivering a Tombstone Piledriver. Apparently, this was meant to lead to Elias taking on The Deadman at Crown Jewel in October, but the match sadly never happened.
Maybe it had something to do with the fact that 'Taker almost died in Saudi Arabia when Goldberg dropped him on his head.
Just going out on a limb here.
