One MIND-BLOWING Secret From Every Year Of WWE History

1. 2024 - WWE Is Still WWE

Cody Rhodes is sad
WWE

If WWE fans have learned anything over the course of the 21st century - or should have learned over the course of the 21st century - it’s that you cannot trust WWE.

To use a phrase coined by the subject of this entry: they’ll always try to f*ck on you.

They tried to f*ck on Cody Rhodes.

In 2024.

The timeline is almost Lynchian in its obfuscation at this point, but the general gist is:

In early January, the Rock agrees a deal to join the WWE board and work the main event of WrestleMania 40 opposite Roman Reigns.

Cody Rhodes wins the Royal Rumble and, on the night, signals his intention to work the main event of WrestleMania 40 opposite Roman Reigns.

How the above two points make any sort of sense together, despite being true individually, is still perplexing.

Cody Rhodes willingly volunteers his main event to the Rock on SmackDown.

Seth Rollins, on the next Raw, talks some soupy nonsense about the World Heavyweight title being the “workhorse title”. Cody should challenge for that belt, and not the “politician” title, Seth says.

If you’re happy to see the Rock, Cody doesn’t finish the story.

The backlash happens, the Rock sensibly pivots and turns heel, and in one double-barrelled political masterstroke, books himself to beat Cody on night one of WrestleMania in order to set up the main event of WrestleMania 41 against the man who does end up “finishing the story”.

2014, 2024.

Vince McMahon, Paul Levesque.

It doesn’t matter. They’ll still never be for you, exactly.

Then. Now. Forever.
