One WWE Match You MUST Watch From Every Year 1984-2024

1. 2023 - The Usos Vs. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa, Money In The Bank

The one post-WrestleMania 39 match that, from a storyline point of view at least, absolutely vindicated the bold decision to have Roman Reigns defeat Cody Rhodes at 'The Show Of Shows', Money In The Bank's Bloodline/Usos epic was the saga's true zenith.

The four could do no wrong for the rabid London crowd, even if the first half of the match settled into a surprisingly moribund state for how high the stakes were. The second half though? Maybe WWE's most gripping moments of the entire year not featuring 'The American Nightmare' himself.

When Roman and Solo's physical dominance went head to head with the drive and determination of Jimmy and Jey, the years and years of work put into the conflicting dynamics within The Bloodline saw rich rewards. It had taken all the guts the Usos could summon just to leave their abusive 'Tribal Chief' in the first place, but the reserves within them to both kick out when the evil Universal Champion smashed and stacked them earned the company one of the all-time great near falls. That in turn was topped by Roman being the one - at long last - to eat defeat. Pinned for the first time since his 2020 return as a monstrous heel, the celebrations either side of the barrier were so epic that the (disappointing) 'Main Event' Jey Uso title match that followed looked and felt like a can't-miss.

Great action, white hot drama and immensely high audience gratification in the moment while selling the next show on the strength of what was to come. That's pro wrestling booking and promotion in a nutshell, and never had Triple H looked better at his job.
