Pat McAfee To Wrestle At WWE WrestleMania 38

The first step towards Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee at WrestleMania 38?

Pat McAfee accepted Vince McMahon's invitation to compete at WrestleMania 38 during the WWE Chairman and CEO's appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday.

The SmackDown announcer responded excitedly, saying it'd be "a dream" to wrestle on the biggest show of the year. Vince stopped short of naming McAfee's opponent, however, claiming he would find somebody worthy of filling the spot.

It has been widely reported that Vince himself will step up as McAfee's opponent at WrestleMania 38. Going from their exchanges above, it looks like this will be built on television, as the duo scarcely teased facing each other during what was McMahon's first live interview in 15 years.

Should McMahon vs. McAfee go ahead, it is believed that WWE will book a "smoke and mirrors event." Unsurprising, given Vince is 76 years old and hasn't fought since 2010, when he faced Bret Hart in a maligned WrestleMania XXVI No Holds Barred match.

Pat McAfee last wrestled in December 2020, competing in the titular men's bout at NXT TakeOver: WarGames IV.
