Depending on how WWE’s calendar is set out this year, this event might not even take place. Single brand PPVs are only planned up to RAW’s Bad Blood on July 9th, with Summerslam following on August 20th. June – September seems a long time to wait for another Smackdown PPV, so it’s quite possible that WWE will slot in another blue show either at the end of July or the start of August.

AJ might have won the Money in the Bank briefcase, but the show still needs a traditional number one contender. Around this time, the annual draft will either have taken place, or be about to take place. For argument’s sake, let’s say that this is the last single brand PPV before the draft, and that the results of said draft will only come into effect after SummerSlam, leaving a lot of opportunities for inter-brand matches and title changeovers.

A six-man elimination match is held to determine the number one contender, a match that The Miz wins. The Miz is on fire from this point onward, and just as it looks like he’s about to bag the prize in the PPV main event, Orton sneaks in a quick low blow kick as Miz tries to go for the Skull Crushing Finale. As the seeds are being planted for an Orton heel turn, AJ Styles runs down to the ring, hits the exhausted viper with a Phenomenal Forearm, and cashes in his briefcase.
