Predicting Every WWE PPV 2017 Main Event After WrestleMania
6. Clash Of Champions - Samoa Joe Vs Finn Balor
From here on out, let’s assume that WWE’s PPV calendar looks pretty much like it did last year, with the same events split between brands accordingly. With that in mind, Clash of Champions should fall in August, bringing with it the built-in stipulation that every RAW championship must be defended.
It makes sense to frame Finn Balor as RAW's top babyface from this point out, since WWE can either go ahead with whatever plans they may have had before he was injured, or pursue new storylines. As an NXT 'icon', Balor is inextricably linked with Triple H, Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens, and his past connection with Seth Rollins means he slots into this story nicely without really needing to bring people back up to speed.
So Finn Balor gets his opportunity at the Universal Championship, reigniting his singles feud with Samoa Joe from NXT. But with Finn’s allies having been taken out earlier on in the night, he can’t face up to the psychological and physical interference from Triple H’s ringside cohorts, and ultimately succumbs to the Coquina Clutch.
