The 2016 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic saw a few teams made up of competitors plucked from the Cruiserweight Classic. Drew Gulak and Tony Nese were among those teams, coming up short in the first round against No Way Jose and Rich Swann.

Gulak and Nese are now integral parts of 205 Live, but neither man has much in the way of upward momentum. Nese has been featured a little more over the last few weeks, but both men are clearly viewed as enhancement performers in the cruiserweight division.

Gulak and Nese will likely team again in the 2017 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, giving whomever their first round opponents are a pair of credible performers to defeat. The duo could pull a surprise and make it through the first round, but a long run in the tournament is extremely unlikely.

Prediction: First Round

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
