The Intercontinental Championship has been defended in a Ladder Match at WrestleMania in years prior, and it appears that a similar multi-man offering is likely for this year's 'Mania.

What's most notable here, though, is that it will not be current IC Champ Big E heading into the match as the defending champion. Of course, this is merely a predication, but it'll be Apollo who'll be the Intercontinental Champion by the time WrestleMania 37 arrives.

Recent weeks have seen a change of attitude for Apollo, with him embracing his heritage as Nigerian royalty as part of a heel turn that's pitted him up against Big E. As such, E is due to defend the Intercontinental Title against Apollo at this weekend's Fastlane.

Right now, Apollo feels fresh, he feels like a threat, he feels like a star on the rise. To have him fall short after such a character change would be utterly wasteful, so expect him to leave Fastlane as the new Intercontinental Champion.

At 'Mania 37, the former Uhaa Nation could well defend his title against Big E, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and King Corbin in what would be a car crash (in the best possible way) of a Ladder Match.
